If you are eligible for access, the person authorised by the Faculty will contact FM Assist with the relevant details.
You are not required to go to FM Assist, the access rights will be allocated automatically once the application has been approved.
Travel Concessions for Tertiary Students
UNSW issues concession cards/entitlements on behalf of Transport NSW to students who meet the eligibility criteria. Travel Concessions are valid until the 31st March in the year following issue (2010 concession is valid to 31st March 2011).
The standard application form can be downloaded here (PDF) or obtained from FM Assist.

- Be a full time student, attending day classes
- Be aged 16 years or older (excluding school pupils aged 16, 17 or 18 years)
- Not be engaged in business or employment
- Not receive any remuneration (scholarships and allowances such as Austudy and Youth Allowance are not counted as remuneration); and

Ordering a replacement Student ID Card
If your card is lost or stolen contact FM Assist on 93855111 and the library on 9385 2650 to put a stop on your card so it cannot be used fraudulently.
If the card is lost or stolen a replacement card will be available from FM Assist after completing a Replacement Student Card form.
- there is an $25.00 replacement cost
- replacement cards will take approximately one hour to be activated after issue.
Replacing a Travel Concession sticker
All applications for replacement stickers must be made to the RailCorp Passes and Concessions office as tertiary institutions (including RTOs providing prevocational courses) are not permitted to issue replacement cards.
Students can download the replacement card application form from the concessions website or obtain a printed form from their institution. The student must complete the relevant sections of the form and, prior to submitting it to RailCorp with the fee, obtain the signature of the institution's authorised concessions officer (certifying their eligibility) and have it stamped with the institution's stamp.
Students submit their applications to RailCorp by post or in person, with payment of the replacement fee. The fee may be paid by Money Order, Credit Card (excluding Amex and Diners), cash or EFTPOS (in person only).
Fees do apply for applications for replacement travel concessions.
In 2010, the fee is $25.00 and is payable to RailCorp.

Getting a Staff ID Card
Please fill out the Staff ID Card order form and submit it to FM Assist.
Please note that this form is to be signed and approved by an authorised signatory from your Faculty.
Staff building access
All staff are to have their building access authorised by designated persons in their Faculty/School/Unit. Access is generally authorised when a card is issued.
Any additional requests for access should also be made via this designated person.
After hours and weekend access
After hours or weekend access to UNSW buildings can be made available to approved staff and students. It must be approved by the Head of School or Department Head and can be organised by emailing FM Assist.
Entry to areas defined as ‘Restricted' requires special authorisation. FM Assist verifies this with Security Systems. Some areas of the University require staff to undertake special training before access is granted.
For buildings without electronic access control, entry can be arranged through the Head of School or Department who will need to have this added to the Security Schedule of Events.
No one should work alone in a laboratory or other potentially dangerous area outside normal working hours without the approval of the appropriate Head of School or Department Head, or without informing the Security Control Centre (phone 9385 6000, or ext 56000).
Any person found inside a building after hours without an access card (with their name and photo on it) will be asked to leave the building immediately.
