Buildings and Grounds
Buildings and Grounds is responsible for maintaining the UNSW estate of 195 buildings. The Department schedules preventative maintenance activities for 26,000 assets and makes repairs as requested.
Buildings and Grounds is comprised of 5 Units:
Maintenance
Client Facilities Managers (CFM) in the Maintenance Unit work closely with the University community to deliver maintenance and minor works (up to $100,000) with minimal disruption to UNSW business. CFMs are allocated to each faculty.
Engineering
The Engineering Unit looks after the planning, construction, supervision, operation and maintenance of all engineering services on all campuses, including:
- lifts, air conditioning and hydraulic services
- fire and EWIS services
- mechanical and electrical services
- site services.
Signage
Internal and external signage on campus is managed to the UNSW style. To help you with your signage requirements:

Locksmith
Our on-site locksmith service:
- provides keys and safes
- maintains locks, doors and safes
- provides other related services such as the re-keying of locks.
Grounds
The Grounds Unit curates the University's landscape and grounds. Team members include specialist greenkeepers and horticulturists.
